In 2015 Sam and Kirsty, purchased their first small slice of heaven, a 38 acre hobby farm in Wistow South Australia. It was here that they began planting out a plot of edible fruits and trees that they had hoped would assist them in becoming self-sufficient.

 

During the process of establishing the small plot, being stuck in the daily grind and through preparing dehydrated fruit as a healthy snack for their children, their goals changed from simply wanting to provide for themselves, to providing for the wider community.

 

Having both been shift-workers throughout their children’s upbringing, Sam and Kirsty knew it was time to make a change to enjoy their farm and family time more. This is when Driftwood Farm formed.

 

The driftwood farm vision was to produce or locally source, high quality fruit which could be used to provide healthy longer lasting fruit snacks and garnishes.

Drift; as a couple Sam and Kirsty have regularly moved around the country, through personal choice and work commitments, drifting everywhere. Wood; Sam and Kirsty’s surname and symbolic of the roots of the trees they have planted, being the grounding for them to their vision.

 

Staying true to form, in January 2023 Driftwood Farm made the decision to move to Coombe, South Australia to expand on their vision…. Watch this space!
